Despite the name, only small historic amounts of gold ounces have been recovered from the Golden Mile, Perseverance and Bluebird mines in this group. Sometimes the Golden Mile name is used the cover all mines in the far eastern section of the Tennant Creek Goldfield, however mines such as New Moon and Golden Forty are up to 10 kilometres west and south-west of the Golden Mile mine. This is not the same location as the Golden Mile Kalgoorlie Western Australia. The Golden Mile mine is approximately 30 kilometres east of Tennant Creek.
The mine site area shows quartz-hematite-jasper ironstone bodies in the Warramunga Formation shale and siltstone. One source in 1965 states the mine achieved 96 ounces of gold, and another source dated 1939 states 124 tonnes of ore for 112.4 ounces of gold.
Harding/Dunne in 1965 dismiss the area as worthless, however their sampling was limited.
The mine is on the northern side of a low hill, showing cleared and minor bulldozed areas, some historic trenching, possibly shafts, and minor equipment/rubbish.
