The Ace High Gold Mine is found in massive ironstone, one of several minor bulldozer cuts, and shafts, along an east-west trending ridge between the Tennant Creek repeater station, and speedway to the west. Mindat map approximate. All the small gold mines from the 1930's in this immediate area have in the past been called the Aces High area, or Burnt Shirt area after another mine, or Honeymoon Range. The mine is 2.4 kilometres north north-east of the Tennant Creek town site.
The ridge shows outcropping quartz-hematite, with country rock siltstone, shale and greywacke of the Warramunga Formation, and minor porphyry to the south. Very little igneous rock occurs. The southern part of the hills contain jasper bars. At Ace High the east-west ironstone bodies are diverted by a major fault. Quartz veins are uniformily scattered through the area.
Explored by Geopeko 1980-1986, a magnetics survey by Australian Development NL in 1985, deep drilling by Asarco late 1980's to early 1990's, and Normandy late 1990's. Little gold was found. Historically the mine has produced about 100 ounces of gold.
