A former baryte mine located in sec. 13 & 24, T16N, R10E, MDM, 1.0 km (0.6 mile) SSW of McGuire Mountain (coordinates of record), at Mule Spring, on National Forest land. Owned/operated by the Chemical and Pigments Co., Inc. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.

Mineralization is a bedded replacement deposit consisting of a 15 foot (5 meter) wide vein. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 6 (Northwestern Sierra Nevada) and/or undivided pre-Cenozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).

Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of an open cut, a crosscut and raises.

About 35,000 tons of 85-98% BaSO4 were shipped prior to 1930. Between 1919 and 1930 was an important producer, and during most of that time was the largest source of baryte in the state. Nothing has been done for several years. Some production in 1960. Total output was 35,000 to 100,000 tons.
