A former Ba(baryte) occurrence/mine located in the NW¼NE¼NW¼ sec. 27, T10N, R1W, SBM, 3.0 km (1.9 miles) ESE of the Mitchel Range, 3.6 km (2.2 miles) WNW of Lead Mountain [2] (coordinates of record), along the eastern margin of the range. Workings featured 6 shallow shafts and a 250 foot tunnel. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters.
Mineralization is a vein barite deposit in metamorphic rocks of Pre-Cretaceous age and sedimentary and volcanic rocks of Tertiary age. The veins follow faults. Local rocks include Precambrian rocks, undivided, unit 2 (Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include unspecified surface openings (the topo map reflects 1 shaft and 1 adit symbol labeled "Barium Queen Mine" at this point).
