A former Hg-Cr-Ni occurrence/mine located in the NW¼NE¼ sec. 5, T18S, R12E, MDM, 1.4 km (0.9 mile) ESE of Idria Peak (coordinates of record) and 2.4 km (1.5 miles; 8,000 feet) S of Idria, along the San Carlos Creek. Discovered in 1853. Owned by E.P. Jarrett. Operated by R. Piaz, J. Carillo (1952- ). Produced during the periods 1853 to 1911, 1915, 1917, 1930 to 1943, and 1950 to 1961. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.

Mineralization is hosted in the New Idria serpentinite body (Franciscan Jurassic serpentine and sandstone; Panoche Upper Cretaceous sandstone and shale). Local alteration includes the silica-carbonate alteration of serpentine. The ore body is irregular, strikes NW and dips SW at a width of 30.48 meters and a length of 121.92 meters. Controls for ore emplacement
included shear zones in serpentine containing silica-carbonate rock. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 3 (Coast Ranges and Western Klamath Mountains).

Regional geologic structures include the N70W Coalinga anticline and New Idria thrust. Local structures include a fault striking N45W.

Workings include surface and underground openings with a length of 487.68 meters.
