A former commercial calcite mine that belonged to Colonel Jack Chinn on the Mercer County side of the Kentucky River at the mouth of Shawnee Run. The mine was near the village of Mundy's Landing in Woodford County and the town of Harrodsburg in Mercer County.
According to Miller (1919, p. 326), the Chinn Mine contained a nearly vertical fissure vein approximately six to sixteen feet wide exposed on a steep face of the river cliff that could be traced for at least a mile to the south.
The Chinn Mining Company also built a mill located on the river at the mouth of the mine. The mill had a capacity of sixty tons of calcite per day. The final product was then shipped to High Bridge on a barge, then loaded into rail cars.
