Said to be a little south-west of Dead Finish. It is thought the Dead Finish prospect is now called the Mount Isabella prospect. It was located in the eastern Capricorn Ranges, just west of the Bali Lo sites, which came to prominence for rare species in the 1970's.
There was a rush to the location in 1890 after some nuggets were discovered. There was little further gold, and the site was soon deserted. As the name suggests this site had ragged ranges and deep ravines. Apart from gold, the veins were also said to contain lead, copper and silver.
According to Martin etc from information provided by earlier government geologists it is a Au-Pb bearing quartz vein, up to 1.8 metres wide, containing galena and cerussite. 12 tonnes of ore was mined in 1937, containing lead, silver, and gold. Explored by Command/West Coast Holdings 1981-1983, and Uranerz 1981-1982.
Said to be near the head waters of Gorge Creek, 16 kilometres south-east of the Mount Mortimer Mindat locality. A number of outcrops in the area was noted by E.S. Simpson, many barren, although an Au-Ag vein up to 18 metres wide is noted, and one sample grading at 400 g/t gold.
