The White Foil Gold Mine is in the southern portion of the goldfield. It with Frogs Leg 2.5 kilometres to the east, are operated at the time of writing by Evolution Mining.
Gold at White Foil occurs in a gabbro quartz portion of a mafic sill that has intruded the volcaniclastic Black Flag sediments, and is associated with quartz veining and stockwork veining. The mineralised zone is 70 metres wide, 400 metres long, open at depth, and dips west south-west 50 to 60 degrees.
White Foil is 3 kilometres west of the regional scale Mungari Shear, and is hosted in a quartz rich gabbro unit as part of the Powder Sill intrusive complex.
White Foil was discovered in 1996, and mining operations began as an open pit in February 2002 by Mines and Resources Australia, and Aurion Gold. The mine was closed in August 2003, when the nearby Kopai salt-pan flooded, and water entered the pit.
Aurion was taken over by Placer Dome in January 2003, in turn taken over by Barrick Gold March 2006. In September 2006, Mines and Resources Australia was taken over by La Mancha. They un-watered the flooded pit across 2007-2008.
The mine produces approximately 40 000 ounces per year. The Mungari processing plant was erected at the site in 2014.
