The Salt Creek Gold Mine is 8 kilometres east of the Mount Monger pastoral station homestead, and just south of the Mount Monger Road. It is also is claimed to be the former site of the processing plant for mines across the Mount Monger, Randalls, and Aldiss-Karonie sections of this goldfield, although little evidence can be seen now of this.
Integra Mining Limited acquired the Randalls leases from Solomon Limited, then in 2013 the company merged with Silver Lake Resources who controlled the neighbouring mines at Mount Monger. Salt Creek was a virgin discovery by Integra in 2007.
Gold is found in east dipping, structurally controlled abundant quartz veining, including occasional visible gold, and associated alteration. Salt Creek is a differentiated dolerite sill hosting the gold, with a second sill called 'Big Sill' also present in a highly sulphidic inter-flow sedimentary horizon. High grade gold is also found in shale at the deposit, located above the main auriferous dolerite.
An open pit was developed in 2012 with a resource of 4.63 Mt at 2.71 g/t yielding 403 833 ounces. The pit captured 220 000 ounces, with the remaining resource plunging south from the pit wall. The size of the pit, which is little more in size than a prospecting excavation means these figures need confirmation.
The Lucky Bay prospect is 5 kilometres to the south, with Red Dale and Mohegan prospects a short distance north of the Salt Creek deposit.
At the time of the Salt Creek discovery, former lead geologist, Chris Cairns was Managing Director, and Greg Wilson was Exploration Manager.
