GML 974Y. Herbert was reported by the State Mining Engineer in 1906 as an old 24 acre lease. It contained eight shafts on eight separate reefs, 8 to 12 inches wide, all producing gold. It was owned by a syndicate of four men being J. Plasto, Monger, Nicholas, and a fourth whose name could not be found. 500 tonnes of ore was at grass. In 1907 the mine name changed to 'Chance', but no further information could be found.
