The Tuart prospect is adjacent to the Homestead underground mine, and previously mined Green Gum open cut.
The deposit is a series of high grade quartz-carbonate-sulphide brecciated or laminated veins hosted within mafic rock. Supergene oxide mineralisation has developed in the regolith immediately above and adjacent to the primary veins. The mineralisation covers a broad area north-west of the Homestead underground mine, and immediately west of the Quarters open pit and underground mine.
The primary veins are named Tuart 060, 115, 080, Quarters 040, and Golden Swan 090. At the end of 2014, the JORC Indicated and Inferred resource at the site is 4.55 Mt at 1.75 g/t for 256 000 ounces of gold as an open pit. Underground mining would produce a JORC resource of 0.91 Mt at 6.39 g/t producing 187 000 ounces of gold. Probable reserves are 1.718 Mt at 1.67 g/t producing 92 273 ounces of gold.
