Whitehaven, Whitehaven Extended, Whitehaven North, Whitehaven Westralia, and Whitehaven Blocks were names found for leases at the site. Limited mining occurred.

At Whitehaven Extended and Whitehaven North, from 1911 to the end of 1912, Nat Friedman and Johnson were extracting ore under a 2000 pound option to the owners, but by January 1913 were dismantling the machinery and left the lease. They had been following a small erratic leader, which led to a fair sized lode ore body containing quartz veins and leaders. It trended north before turning at a right angle. 4 feet wide. Gold was very fine but a high value.

In 1913, its noted that for Whitehaven Blocks, after much excitement a few months earlier, the lease was deserted.

Joe Wassall extracted 9 tonnes for 6 ounces of gold 6 dwt in 1918. The mine was called the Mystery (old Whitehaven), although another source states the Mystery name applied to the site from its very early days.

The Whitehaven lease in 1923 saw a 7 ton crushing of quartz and schistose for 41 ounces 12 dwt by Keith Blackman and Wilson, but by the end of the year they had abandoned the lease.

Donald Swan, James Miller and John Woolhouse Taylor applied for the Whitehaven lease in April 1913, GML 1705A, 18 acres. George Reay applied for the Whitehaven North lease in December 1910, GML 1576W, 24 acres. At the same time Sydney Hamilton applied for the Whitehaven Westralia lease, GML 1575W. No more was found for any of these applicants.

The site is about 3 kilometres north-east of Ora Banda. The area contains several groupings of old shafts in low hills, as part of the Cashman's Line, various old mines trending north-west to south-east for several kilometres.
