The Enterprise Gold Mine opened in May 2013, as a large open pit operation, and possible underground mining later.
The mine is owned by Norton Goldfields, back by the Chinese based Zijin Mining. The mine is 2.5 kilometres east from Ora Banda. A haulage road carts ore to the Paddington Mill, 38 kilometres to the south-east. The fleet includes five Caterpillar 789D trucks, with payloads of about 200 tonnes.
The mine was developed on an older and smaller open pit by a prior company who accessed the near surface oxidised ore. Norton is targeting the underlying primary mineralisation and adjacent oxidised ore.
Enterprise contains 1.22 million ounces of Inferred and Indicated resources with 22.5 Mt of ore at 1.69 g/t. Probable Reserves as at 2013 was 563 000 ounces of gold at 10.2 Mt of ore 1.72 g/t. The mine is expected to produce 110 000 ounces of gold per annum over 5 years.
Gold is hosted in a differentiated dolerite sill with cross cutting structures, overlain with capped breccia. Gold is controlled by a east-west trending structural corridor with a south-west dipping dolerite sequence. Gold is hosted by brecciated and altered dolerite material. The main lode forms a broad, shallow south plunging pipe of mineralisation.
