The Gimlet Duke Mine is about 3 kilometres north-east of Ora Banda, and is not part of the Gimlet lode mines just south of Ora Banda. The area around the Gimlet Duke contains many scattered shafts in low hills, in a north-west to south-east trend, accessed via faint tracks leading from the Davyhurst-Ora Banda Road.
The mine had produced before 1913, 300 tonnes or ore at 18 dwt per tonne. It is reported active in 1913, as a lode formation 7 feet wide at the 70 foot level, with at least four distinct auriferous quartz veins. A shaft is down to 100 feet. Crushings were found to 1916 by O'Neil and party.
