Developed by Western Mining Corporation before being abandoned. C.N. Collard and party took out a crushing in 1946 (P.A. 4304W) at 17 dwt. Gold is found in a leucogranite dyke, and a new shaft had been sunk to 17 feet at the south-east end.
The area is about 5 kilometres north-west of the Theil Well open pit. It is reached by taking a track which heads in a straight line west, from the Theil Well mine road, about 4 kilometres north of the mine. Where the straight westerly track makes a sudden southerly dip is the workings of the Three Eights.
A number of historic small prospector shows, and modern bulldozer patches are in the area, often difficult to find and get to. Collards Find is a small working 500 metres to the north north-east of Three Eights with no apparent access track. The Merry Dance workings are a further 1 kilometre north north-east, best accessed by continuing south-west from the Cave Hill workings. The Yellow Belle workings are 1 kilometre south south-west of the Three Eights, accessed via a side track. Little information could be found for any of the locations.
