The mine adjoins the Siberia Consols on the south-west. It is named after a racehorse who won the Melbourne Cup in 1909. East and Stacey (surnames) developed the mine. A company was floated in Adelaide in 1912 to take an option over the mine (the same people who floated the Siberia Consols). A costean was dug and new shaft sunk. Alex Roberts was appointed mine manager. A small tonnage of ore was removed before the company abandoned the lease.
In 1948, Reeves and Bourke (surnames), found the leader in the west wall of the old shaft, the company had been extracting ore from. They also found a parallel leader in the Hanging Wall, but no further information was found regarding crushings.
