The mine adjoined the Mulwarrie mine to the north. It was developed by Forrest, Emanuel and Hoffman (surnames), who had purchased it from Richard Uren for 9000 pounds. 24 acres. The main shaft was down to 140 feet, and the reef increased in size with depth, with well defined highly mineralised ore. Half-way up the shaft the lode was 4 feet wide, with well defined walls.

It eventually came under the control of John De Baun from the Mulwarrie mine. The lease was owned by Alick Forrest who had passed away. De Baun offered the estate 750 pounds for the lease, which they declined and put it up for auction. De Baun purchased the lease at the auction for 350 pounds.

When De Baun closed down the Mulwarrie in 1906, both leases were put up for sale. There were no buyers, and the leases were still in his name when De Baun died late 1911. His estate put the leases up for sale again, but one year later there was still no buyer.

The mine had produced 105 tonnes of ore for 302 ounces of gold by 1900. Its total as noted in the 1930's was 1586 tonnes of ore for 2199 ounces of gold.

It is said the reef resembles those at the Charters Towers Goldfield in northern Queensland, where the reef pinches and swells within the well defined walls of the schistose formation. By 1902 the lease had four shafts in talcose schist. The northern section was entirely free of quartz with only trace gold. The central and southern sections contained the quartz and gold, the lode dipping 45 degrees east. Several granite dykes cross the lode in a north north-west and north north-east direction, 1 to 10 feet wide.
