The Young Australia Gold Mine borders to the west of the Peach Tree mine, 2 kilometres south of the Evanston-Mulline and Davyhurst-Mulline road junction. The site has some scattered shafts in a north-south trend, a small cleared bulldozed area, possibly a couple of small historic trenches. It is unclear if some or all of the old mine is under the tailings pile from the Peach Tree.
In the late 1890's to early Twentieth Century it produced regular rich crushings. Albert Garde was reported as the original prospector, who went on to greater riches at the nearby Lady Gladys mine. The reef trended north-south and dipped 45 degrees. All the ore initially mined was in the oxidised zone, however at depth was a large sulphide lode, which technology at the time could not process.
The mine was developed by James Thomas from 1896, however in 1901, he was killed when he fell down the shaft (aged 41).
It appears after this tragedy, the mine was idle for a number of years. In 1910 it is noted as owned by Dare and party. From 1912 to 1914 the mine is worked by Tom Hoyle and Jimmy Harwood. Forty men are employed on the mine. Initially, 2420 ounces was found in 500 tonnes of ore. A dividend was paid of 500 pounds per share, leaving 6000 pounds as working capital.
Later in 1914, the mine is on tribute to Dore and Griffiths, the mine now owned by the same syndicate controlling the Lady Gradys mine. A further small crushing by tributers was found in 1918.
To 1933, the mine had produced 2672 tonnes of ore yielding 5763 ounces of gold.
From at least 1933, there was a battery at the site. Indications this was erected some years in the past, as it is stated the battery is being re-conditioned. The intention was to develop the mine as well, but appears the focus was mainly on public crushing. A. P Brophy had either acquired or taken out an option over the mine and lease in 1934. Crushing at the battery was found to 1939.
