Thought to be a north-south line of shafts north of the Altona Gold Mine, and immediately north of the Kookynie-Mount Remarkable Road.
Said to very rich in its early years, when owned by the Cosmopolitan Company, but no further information was found. By 1904 it was on tribute. Roger Clark was the main man from 1911 to 1913. It is noted in 1913, he had been battling away for two years by himself producing crushings from the 100 foot level. He had obtained 'fair quality' but the reef was very patchy and he abandoned it.
Another source states earlier in the year he had been producing crushings with Gilmour and party. At the same time Duncan and McMillan (surnames) were working the small East or Hanging Wall Reef.
In 1916, the lease was taken up by Tony Perron, who unwatered the shafts and installed machinery. At the bottom of the workings at 170 feet, Perron found a 300 foot long drive with ore carts and tram lines still in place, although no stoping had been done at the level. By the end of the following year, four men were employed stoping virgin ground to the south of the main shaft.
Nothing then was found until 1948, when Tommy Barrett had taken over the Altona lease, and tributers had produced some minor ore in this year. Barrett also took over the adjoining Carpathia lease. 24 acres. The extent of the workings would indicate a more extensive history than what was found.
