Gold was discovered in this area around 1932. It existed as a collection of minor prospector shows during the 1930's, and also for about three years immediately after World War two. About twenty to thirty men were prospecting the area during this time.
The area is 6 kilometres south of Menzies. A few hundred metres south of the Yunndaga mine turn-off, is the road to the Yunndaga Station, heading south-east. The workings are at best minor. A couple of shafts exist about a kilometre along the road, and the same distance south, and would be hard to locate. A further kilometre, and some 200 metres south of the road is a north-south line of shafts. Yet a further kilometre, and 200 metres south of the road is about three widely spaced east-west trending shafts.
Mainly names and crushings are mentioned. The early 1930's are A. Collier, J. Treacey, R. Condon, Mack and Ross, R. Ellis, Whitehead, A.G. Amscombe.
In March 1947, Albert Zaina, Lorenzo Bona and Faustino Bona take over 5734Z Three Angegher lease. The year before the party was on the Tracey lease (old Lady Dolly). The Fairev lease is sold to Angelo Dietcheri in 1946.
Trevor (Trevlyn) Walters (47)was seriously injured by a fall of rock in May 1947. He sustained a broken collarbone, head and chest injuries. As he was working his lease alone, he had no option but to walk a mile to a neighbouring lease worked by J. Keppel, who drove him to the Menzies hospital. On May 17 1949 he passed away, although no mention is made of the reason, speculation is the long term effects of the prior incident.
