The mine name means 'Rock of the Night' in Welsh. The prospect was discovered in 1894 by Alec Graham and Black Harry (Hume Black). Several crushings subsequently went through the nearby Menzies Consolidated battery from a reef up to 14 feet wide. The prospectors failed to sell the mine to a company and eventually abandoned it.
A few years later Don and party took over, but also abandoned the mine due to the inflow of water. The shafts and workings gradually collapsed.
In 1912, a local syndicate took over consisting of R. Wells, M.P. Cogan, E. Cocke, C. Barnard, R. Hosking, R. Davey, John Smith and A. Taylor. They took several months restoring the workings, but no information was found of active mining.
In 1935, the mine is owned by M. Clarke, F. Mortison, T Snell (Snr), and T. Snell (Jnr). A working option was taken out by a company, but no more was found.
The mine is 200 metres north of the Yunndagan Gold Mine turnoff. It consists of half a dozen shafts in a north-south line bordering the west edge of the Goldfields Highway.
