The Lincoln Gold Mine was a small prospector show, just south-west of the Maori Chief Gold Mine, and about 2 kilometres south of Menzies. It was active from just after 1900 to 1911.
For a period before 1906, Lansdowne and party took out some initially rich crushings. One of the party was George Ponting who had arrived at the goldfields from Victoria in 1900 at the ripe old age of 74. He passed away in September 1906.
From mid 1906, McKenzie, Anscombe, and Halligan (surnames) took over, and several crushings are noted by them over the next two years. The reef averaged 6 inches to 1 foot wide, and had been driven on at the 60 foot level, 35 feet north and 30 feet south. Meanwhile McKenzie's son, aged 14, was sending ore to the state battery from the dumps, earning substantial pocket money, from the gold his father missed.
Crushings are noted from Keating and party in 1909, then Cook and Mortison in 1911.
