The Cox's Find Gold Mine is 65 kilometres north of Laverton and about 4 kilometres east of the Erilstoun Road.

The deposit was discovered, and first pegged by A.E. and G.W. Cox and James Escreet on 20 May 1935. The prospectors took out 100 tonnes from a small open cut, then later in 1935, it was let out to option to Western Mining Corporation. They paid the prospectors 25 000 pounds for it. Western Mining had formed in 1933, the Cox's Find, was their first venture. Unlike many new companys who pick up a duffer, Cox's Find proved to be a bonanza. It was a great start to company who during the 1970's nickel boom would become a giant in Western Australian mining.

The company erected a 10 head battery, and aerial photographs of the time show a small town for the employees next to the battery. Two shafts were sunk, either side of the open cut.

James Withnell was killed from a fall of earth at the 350 foot level in March 1938. G.A. Moore was seriously injured in the same incident. J. Kerrisk was killed underground in an explosion in February 1939. Percy James Connell (45) engineer and Cecil Garside Wallshaw (55) electrician were charged with assault on John Eric Brown at the mine in February 1937. Brown had to be hospitalised.

To 1940, the mine had produced 59 367 tonnes of ore for 50 983 ounces of gold worth half a million pounds in 1940's figures. The mine closed mid 1942. The site at present contains a small oblong pit, tailings heap, and a reasonable amount of battery sands. Any remains of the two shafts would require an on the ground inspection.
