Developed by the Lady Mary Company, floated around 1896 with £30,000 capital. Seven shafts were sunk which found very little and several calls were made for more shareholder money. By 1898, the mine manager was replaced, and in a short space of time, the mine was crushing ore by April 1898, through its 20 head stamp battery. Lady Mary is about 8 kilometres south of Norseman. 18 acres.

It is located in hilly country, the reef running north-south along the eastern slopes of the hills. The main shaft had reached 367 feet deep by 1905 on ore with very fine gold. The main shaft had a poppet head and small steam winding engine, with ore transported by an elevated tramway, down the hill to the battery situated east of the mine. Between April 1898, and the source date September 1898 the mine had crushed 1,830 tonnes for 3,094 ounces.

Mining and crushing of ore continued until April 1905, when the company applied for an exemption through the Warden's Court. The Lady Mary Gold Mining Company was wound up in 1908. A.J. Hill purchased the lease and battery/plant in February 1909. He found several hundred ounces of amalgam forgotten about under the battery tables and boxes. It was so valuable the gold from it alone paid the purchase price of the property. Hill sold the battery/plant at auction in March 1910.

P. McGonigle and Crane took over the lease later in 1910 and conducted some shallow level mining.

Adjoining to the south, was the Lady Mary South lease. This was also held by a company with £30,000 capital, and by 1898 had not progressed past the prospecting stage. It accessed the same reef from a couple of shafts to a maximum of 100 feet deep.
