J. Orrie is said to have discovered gold at the location, but V.L. Morton and W.J. Hughes were the first to peg the lease (at least according to a letter written by Morton).
A 4 head battery was erected in 1929, carted into the site by camel. The battery quickly expanded to 5 then 10 heads, and with a government subsidy, was crushing for prospectors in the area.
The Monte Carlo Company had an option over the mine early 1928, but quickly abandoned it. Later the same year, G. Dunlevy of Perth is noted as owning the lease. Around 1930, the lease name changed to North End.
Gordon Dunleavy and his son took over the operations of the mine and battery from late 1928. They had a particularly good month September 1933, crushing 1508 tonnes for 913 ounces, a record for the mine.
Regular crushings are found to 1934, and then to a lesser extent until 1940. Late 1940 a crushing for the mine is found under the name A.P. Jones, then all falls silent.
