The Broad Dam Gold Mine is at the southern end of the goldfield, and is 500 metres north of the Blue Funnel mine, and 2 kilometres south of the Bullant mine. The abandoned open pit is bulb shaped, the result of the lode splitting into an east and west section at the northern end. The east lode had higher grades of gold.
Mineral resources at Broad Dam are estimated at 6.77 Mt at 1.98 g/t yielding 434 000 ounces of gold. The open pit was developed in 1991 and 1993 producing 745 Kt at 3.9 g/t.
Water has subsequently filled the pit to 20-30 metres of the surface. Waste dumps are east, south-east and south-west of the pit.
