Located 10 kilometres south-east of Coolgardie, about 1 kilometre west of the Coolgardie-Norseman Highway, and 500 metres south of the Gala Gold Mine. The site contains a deep water filled pit, then covering 200 metres to the north a series of irregular shallow pits, with mullock and bunds of an abandoned modern open pit mining operation.
Mid 1949, the Chatanooka Syndicate was reported as crushing 412.5 tonnes of ore at the Coolgardie State Battery, for 67 ounces at 14 dwt. A third party reports the syndicate was planning to sink a new shaft at the site and erect a small battery in 1950. No further information was found.
