The Queen of Sheba Gold Mine was located between the King Solomon and Rose Hill gold mines, just south-east of town.
It was run by a private un-registered Kalgoorlie syndicate. It largely only came to light due to a squabble between two syndicate members which reached court. This started in November 1896 when syndicate member H.J. Sivyer took out an injunction against fellow syndicate member Joseph Mallison from selling GML 250 being one of the Queen of Sheba leases.
A year later, a matter reached court where Mallison claimed unpaid wages as mine manager for the syndicate. Evidence was provided Mallison had sold an adjoining lease he owned to the syndicate in lieu of the wages, and Mallison had signed documentation releasing the syndicate of responsibility for the wages. Mallison's lawyer abandoned the case at this point. Mallison 'whose demeanour in the witness box made an unfavourable impression upon His Honour'. It appears only lawyers made money out of this gold mine.
