Köppen climate type:
Located 5 kilometres north-west of Peak Hill. The manganese is supergene in origin, and related to the manganese shales of the Horseshoe Formation further north. The supergene zone structure is concentrated along an east trending shear zone. The ore is lateritic, and locally pisolitic, forming caps that overlie the primary manganese rich sedimentary material. The primary ore is pyrolusite.
There has been sporadic mining here from 1922 to 1960 from 3 leases. The manganese bodies strike east, up to 100 metres long and up to 30 metres wide. In 1963, the deposits were estimated at 4000 tonnes at 40% Manganese.
The Mindat co-ordinates are approximate.
