Located approximately 10 kilometres south-west of the former Paynesville townsite, and 50 metres east of the Mount Magnet-Sandstone Road. The site is possibly fenced off.
After some nuggets were found in the area, H.S. Lewis and O Black, took out one lease (GML 1210), and dug some potholes. Another lease adjoining to the north was taken out by Phillips (surname), both in 1923.
Both were on the same line of lode. The reef was 3 feet wide, and shattered. Gold was found in the footwall portion of the reef in veinlets, and in places associated with iron staining of the reef. Much gypsum was reported on the surface. The gold was fine, coarse and hacky. The geologist investigating the deposit was shown a pickle bottle by Lewis filled with quartz fragments carrying a large proportion of coarse gold. The deposit was described as being similar to nearby Elsie mine. To April 1924, the deposit produced 343.30 oz from 0.79 tonnes of ore, with 25.99 oz being specimen stone. Minor amounts were produced subsequently before being abandoned.
