Consists of the Golden Giant lease itself, Golden Giant Extended, and Golden Giant West. The last lease was the northern most on the Lennonville Goldfield. It is thought the 1980's Welcome open pit was developed over the historic workings.

The leases covering 27 acres were taken out by H. Olsen Smith early 1896, in the hope of picking up any northern extension of the lode on the Welcome lease immediately to its south.

There were three distinct reefs on the properties. One was 6 feet wide traversing the entire property. Another reef had the enormous width of 120 feet running against a dyke. Coarse gold increased with depth in friable honeycombed quartz.

Crushings were found up to 1903. The last was June 1903 at 173.5 tonnes at 9 oz 14dwt. The properties contained substantial manganese. This caused problems when processing the gold at the batteries. The ingots would turn out black, and with a lot of what was called dross. Late 1896 the leases were sold.

There were at least twelve shafts on the lease. We know this because by 1898 Sullivan and Graham (surnames) owned the leases. All was not well by this stage, with the lease virtually forfeited, only needing the Warden's stamp of approval. One of the partners had sued the other for removal of timber from the twelve shafts, claiming damages of 50 pounds each. The
case was dismissed as the regulation pertaining to the issue only related to mines employing more than five employees underground, and the Golden Giant did not qualify. The matter was referred to the Warden's Court.

In April 1896, five shafts were listed at 150, 85, 26, 32 and 15 feet deep. J. Graham is mine manager in 1897, and is noted as pegging an asbestos lease on the goldfield at this time.

The Golden Giant lease (GML 617) was forfeited in 1903.
