Poggio Bianco del Dragone (Cinghi di Toggiano; Toggiano; Toggiana), Ofioliti dei Cinghi (incl. Cinghio del Corvo), Palagano, Provincia di Modena, Emilia-Romagna, Italia


Poggio Bianco Dragone (Cinghi di Toggiano) ophiolite is located near Toggiano (also spelled Toggiana in the oldest texts).

It is a historical locality for excellent datolite and prehnite, discovered by Sigmund von Helmreichen (Haidinger, 1849 a, b; Kengott, 1852; Malagoli, 1884 and 1885; Gallitelli, 1927 and 1929; Grill, 1928 and 1930). Very limpid crystals were collected underground inside the Toggiano mine (see Dragone Valley mines).
