Williams (circa 1945) reported "Graphite near the path leading to Haddam Neck Congregation Church, also Cyanite." According to Williams (1899) it was located "on the hill north of the Church." Coordinates are approximate based on this description as Williams' map marks it well SE of the church.
Davis (1901) says: "Graphite occurs on the Neck in a mica schist of excellent quality but small quantity." and about the kyanite: "Some magnificent specimens of a rich blue color have been plowed up on a Haddam Neck farm, but I think the original vein has never been discovered. One of the finest of these specimens is in the collection of Mr. F. P. Perkins, Port Chester, N. Y."
