Summary: Active limestone quarry south of the village of Brekov. In the quarry there was exposed an extensive profile through the Gutenstein limestone, disrupted by fault. In its south-eastern part of the quarry an extensive cave space related obviously to the fault was discovered, of N-W strike, completely filled (to an uncovered distance of ca 120 m) ochreous compact clayey soil of likely Neogene age. On the south-west edge of the facing, intersected with the longitudinal E-W faults, among the fallen blocks, a transverse profile of the cave is exposed. The bottom of profile creates a few-cm thick layer of yellow-ochreous clay subsoil, paleontologically apparently sterile. The fill itself is made of terra-type soil. Here the site Brekov is located. The other two sites - Brekov 2 and 3, are located on the northern edge of the quarry. The fossil findings come from a sandy subsoil of coarse dark-red terra-type deposits, which are covered by distinct solifluction flow (Brekov 3), or blocks of weathered limestone (Brekov 2).
