This property was investigated for garnet potential. Exposures of garnetiferous material extend over 1200m on this property.
A pit, 2m deep was excavated 40m west of a clearing 25m north of Youthdale Road.
A massive, fine- to coarse-grained, medium-to-dark, red garnet rock is quite
common in the amphibolite and hornblende gneiss in the southern part of the
township. The author assumes that the garnet bodies are skarns derived from
lenses, pods, or bands of impure crystalline limestone at the contact with the
amphibolite or hornblende gneiss.
