Broșteni is a town in Suceava County, in the historical region of Western Moldavia, northeastern Romania. Broșteni is the fourteenth largest urban settlement in the county. It was declared a town in 2004, along with seven other localities in Suceava County. The town administers the former villages of Hăleasa, Lungeni, and Neagra (which became neighborhoods in 2004), and Cotârgași, Dârmoxa, Frasin, Holda, Holdița, and Pietroasa (with the status of associated villages).

Munteanu et al. lists a Mn deposit at this site (or its area).

One of many stratabound Mn deposits within the East Carpathian Mn-rich belt: a Cambrian/Ordovician (with greenschist facies metamorphism in Silurian) island arc complex. Other deposits include: Arșița (in Iacobeni), Argestrut, Borca, Cosna, Dadu, Dealul Rusului, Drancani, Oița, Roșu, and Sărișor.

In terms of structural geology, these deposits belong to the Central East Carpathian basement nappes. At least some of them, i.e., the ones of the Iacobeni area (Arșița, Tolovanu, Argestrut, Dadu, Oița) are within the Putna Nappe (part of Sub-Bucovinian Nappe). In terms of lithostratigraphy, they belong to Tulgheș Group, that is, Lower Palaeozoic metasedimentary/volcanosedimentary sequence. In a more detailed description they are listed under Harghita Fm. (Tg2), a variegated sequence with Mn-rich metacherts / black quartzites.

Most likely similar to other Romanian Mn deposits, like Răzoare (in Maramureș), Delineşti (in Semenic Mts.), or Sălciua de Sus (Gilău Mts.).
