Small workings for iron ore. The mountain forms a point of land that includes Indian Point, referred to in many older texts.
Dawson studied samples from the deposit before 1855. How (1869) has a description of the operations saying the copper ore and magnetite occur in veins 2-10 inches thick, in a matrix of hard jaspideous rock. He writes "Mining operations have been conducted here by Mr. J. Browne who shipped about 10 tons to England which gave some three per cent. or metal, a second quantity of about 12 tons, of richer appearance, was lost on the voyage. Some tons remain at the spot." Also worked circa 1906.
In his section of copper ores, How writes "red oxide, with a little grey ore and green carbonate, in association with magnetic oxide of iron." The grey ore presumably means copper sulfides, which are known from the area, and not tennantite/tetrahedrite which are highly unlikely in this environment.
