Along the dirt road from Besano to Ca' del Frate/Besnasca (a famous fossiliferous locality situated in the municipal territory of Viggiù) we can observe several rockslide events, occurred on the western flank of Monte Orsa-Monte Sant'Elia, most of all covered by woods.

Few years ago a new mass-wasting event occured, as big as you can see it from Besano and also Cuasso village. This small site became interesting to calcite collectors because the rock formation is the same of the nearby locality known as L'Americana quarry (or improperly "Bisuschio quarry"), famous for its calcite crystals (beautiful rhombohedra and mushroom-shaped aggregates).
