The Holländare mining field is by far the most important group of mines in Gladhammar; for instance, Svenonius (1905) only mentions one single mine by name outside this field.
The mines are found in a 275 m long NW—SE area on the slopes of the 94 m high Käringryggen hill, 43 m above the lake Tjursbosjön.
Until 2011 the top of the hill Käringryggen was covered by dumps from the mines, and many of the mineral samples labelled as coming from the Gladhammar mines have in fact been found on these dumps. The dumps are now completely removed due to environmental issues to prevent further leakage of As, Co, Cu, and Pb from the mining area to the lake below. The possibilities for collectors are thus history. However, at the southeastern end of the mining field, some dumps have been left for strictly scientific purposes.
The mines
Roughly 250 m SE of the Ryssgruve Field are the Nygruvan, Gamla Gruvan, Knut's shaft, Tyskgruvorna, Odelmarksgruvan, Svenskgruvan, Holländaregruvan, and Bondgruvan respectively. Knut's shaft and Odelmarksgruvan are more cobalt-rich than the others.
