Coal mine.

Lena Mining Field - mining concession no. 1077 (coal-lignite), registered on 21-01-1922.

This mine was exaustively exploited between 1924 and 1948. Although there are registers of mining works since 1740, with a a relevant productive period between 1885 and 1888.

Of the six mines in the region of Porto de Mós, this was the one which had the best coal, an old lignite formation, which was sent to the cement factories of Maceira/Leiria and Alhandra.
