The Rubicon Gold Mine sits in the centre of the Kundana gold mines, with a decline from the open pit accessing the Rubicon, Hornet and Pegasus ore bodies.
Rubicon has a Measured Resource of 9 Mt at 19.4 g/t yielding 6 000 ounces; an Indicated Resource of 139 Mt at 13.4 g/t yielding 60 000 ounces; and an Inferred Resource of 143 Mt at 11.8 g/t yielding 54 000 ounces.
Rubicon was discovered in 1999. Open pit mining commenced in 2011. The Rubicon, Hornet and Pegasus deposits are hosted by the K2 structure, a steep west dipping laminated shear vein 0.3 to 0.8 metres thick. The ore zone is wider than the vein structure by up to 5 metres, due to the presence of mineralised Footwall stockwork veins and breccia zones. The veins contain coarse gold, and disseminated galena, sphalerite, and scheelite.
Mining has shifted to underground, via a decline in the open pit, which also accesses the nearby Hornet and Pegasus deposits.
