Cantanhede is a Portuguese city in the district of Coimbra. It is the seat of the Municipality of Cantanhede, which has an area of 390.88 km² and a population of 34,218 inhabitants (2021 census), subdivided into 14 parishes.

The municipality is bordered to the north by the municipalities of Vagos, Oliveira do Bairro, and Anadia, to the east by Mealhada, to the southeast by Coimbra, to the south by Montemor-o-Velho and Figueira da Foz, to the northwest by Mira, and to the west, it has a coastline along the Atlantic Ocean.

In this region, there are numerous limestone quarries (with the commercial name Pedra de Ançã). There are also large kaolin deposits.
