Related to the granites of the Mora-Gálvez batholith there are a series of veins of hydrothermal quartz that are the result of the last magmatic activity in this area. Sometimes these veins outcrop, producing geomorphological reliefs on the plain of the ‘Crystalline Mesa’ of Toledo. This is the case of the El Guijo deposit that is formed by two aligned hills with a height of 785m and 775m, located close to Solana de los Viejos, about 2km W-NW from Mazarambroz, where a quartz vein with a width up to 25m forms an outcrop. This vertical vein, with intermittent outcropping, extends following the direction N 55º E from Dehesa del Castañar to the north of Mazarambroz, it is 8.5km long. There are remains of a small quarry.
In this outcrop we can find milky quartz druses on massive quartz, sometimes coated or colored by iron oxides.
