Structure: The Beds Strike Wnw And Are Almost Flat Near The Axis Of The Randlett Basin.

Tectonics: Interior Basin; Deltaic Red Bed Margin

Commodity: Atacamite and marcylite were described by shepard (1854, p. 145-146). Merritt (1940, p. 9-10) noted that the marcylite was a variety of atacamite.

Deposit: Malachite, azurite, chalcocite, and fossil wood, in a 4-ft ss., was prospected before 1951. The copper occurs in many places along the north bank of the red river, such As ne-8-5s-10w, to s2-30-5s-12w, in the wellington or claypool formation. Bachman and o'sullivan (1954) give location in ne-ne-3-5s-11w, with 0.30% cu. U.s.a.e.c. (1968, cotton co.) mentioned that three shafts were seen in 1951 on the grady benson farm in this area. These are quoted by totten and fay (1982, p. 10, locs. 106, 113). Marcy (1854, p. 9-10) and shumard (1854, p. 173) mention this area, with copper minerals seen on may 16, 1852. Atacamite and marcylite were described by shepard (1854, p. 145-146).

Development: Three shafts were sunk in the ss. Before 1951.

Geology: GEOLOGY BY MUNN (1914), WEGEMANN (1915), AND HAVENS (1977).
