A former Hg mine located in the NE¼NE¼ sec. 30, T23S, R16E, MDM, 0.5 km (0.3 mile) SSE of Table Mountain (coordinates of record) (9 miles E of Parkfield). Operated in 1916. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
NOTE: Pemberton states/alludes that this mine is located in Kings County (near the Kings Mine); however, it is located on the Monterey County side of the line.
Mineralization is a Hg deposit with cinnabar ore hosted in carbonate rock. The ore body is irregular in form, strikes E/NW and dips steep/low angle. A low angle fault dips at varying angles to N. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 3 (Coast Ranges and Western Klamath Mountains).
Geologic structures include the San Andreaas Fault system and a shear zone.
Workings include unspecified underground openings, now caved.
Analytical data results: 2 to 10 pounds Hg/ton.
