Sheboygan County's bedrock is Silurian and Devonian carbonate rocks, which are locally quarried. The county is mostly covered with glacial drift including lake deposits, tills and outwash-filled channels. Beach combing along Lake Michigan's shore can provide interesting samples of local and glacially transported rocks.
