Cervo stream (Torrente Cervo) is one of the most important sites for the search of alluvial gold in the Po Plain. Alluvial gold deposits in fine sediments along the stream banks are located in the municipal territories of Campiglia Cervo (formerly San Paolo Cervo and Quittengo), Sagliano Micca, Tavigliano, Miagliano, Andorno Micca, Tollegno, and Biella (in the middle and lower valley of Cervo stream); Candelo, Vigliano Biellese, Cossato, Castelletto Cervo, and Gifflenga (in the plain).
In the Cervo stream gold alluvials (see the photos) very good gold nuggets with considerable size and weigth are found; nuggets weighing several grams are not uncommon.
At the Gold Museum of Zubiena (Biella province) various types of alluvial gold and the typical tools of the gold prospectors are exhibited.
