Site is in Gates of the Arctic National Park.
Location: This occurrence is at an elevation of about 5300 feet on a ridge approximately 2 miles west of Oyukak Mountain. It is in the S1/2 sec. 7, T. 25 N., R. 15 E., of the Kateel River Meridian. The location is accurate to within 200 ft. The site corresponds to locality 11 of Grybeck and Nelson (1981).
Geology: This occurrence consists of a grab sample of pyrite-bearing oxidized zones in calcareous siltstone of the Devonian Skagit Limestone. Assays of the sample showed 300 ppm As and 300 ppm Sb (Nelson and Grybeck, 1980; Grybeck and Nelson, 1981). The occurrence apparently is only of local extent.
Workings: Work restricted to surface sampling of outcrop during geologic mapping by USGS in the late 1970s.
Alteration: Oxidized sulfides.
