This site is located on land conveyed to or patented by the Bristol Bay Native Corporation.
Location: This site is located near the head of Portage Bay (MacKevett and Holloway, 1977, locality 5). Site location is accurate to within 2 miles.
Geology: The area is underlain by volcanic rocks of the Meshik Formation of Oligocene and Eocene ages (Detterman and others, 1981). MacKevett and Holloway (1977) indicate alteration and porphyry type mineralization possibly associated with Tertiary intrusives.
Workings: U.S. Bureau of Mines records indicate claims were staked on this occurrence in the mid-1960's.
Age: Tertiary.
