As much as 1 percent chromite is present in some of the least serpentinized rocks. Serpentinized dunite and harzburgite at Mount Sorensen were assayed using fire assay and spectrographic methods; they contain as much as 0.01 ppm platinum and up to 0.01 ppm palladium (Keith and Foster, 1973).
